5. Schedule: The chaplain will be available whenever the Chosen Eye Surgery Center is operational. This would be typically a 40-hour work week Monday-Friday on a day-in-day-out basis. However, the days would be longer including some weekend work during eye surgery projects which will happen 4-5 weeks per year. The Chosen Eye Surgery Center will close the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and reopen the first Monday in January of the next year, as well as up to 2 weeks during the rest of the year, thereby allowing 6-8 weeks of leave throughout the year.
6. About the Chosen Eye Surgery Center: This brand-new facility in Chinandega, Nicaragua was constructed in 2021 and will be the only facility in Nicaragua to provide modern, high-quality eye surgery on public Nicaraguan patients. Chosen employs a husband-wife medical missionary team to handle all operations of the facility. The facility will be operational throughout the year under the supervision of Chosen's medical missionary team, but the high majority of eye surgery will be performed by visiting project teams of USA ophthalmologists coming to the facility periodically to perform high-volume surgery over a short period of time. Though high-quality surgery is important to Chosen's overarching mission, nevertheless it is just the platform to bring the poor and needy to our facility in order that they may have an opportunity to hear about God's grace and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This highest duty of our mission will be conducted by Chosen's chaplain.
