The staff of First Pres is a ministry team. Each has their own areas of strength and focus. Together, we support and nurture one another through prayer, fellowship, and service to Jesus Christ, his people gathered in this congregation, and the surrounding_noemailmunities.
Children's Ministry at First Pres exists to share the love and knowledge of the Triune God with children, and to lovingly nurture them toward spiritual health and maturity. The Children's Ministry staff and volunteers must be safe, trusted followers of Christ who are also actively engaged in the life of the church and_noemailmitted to nurturing children to grow in the knowledge and love of Christ. They can offer a faith_noemailmunity as a non-parental voice of biblical knowledge, wisdom, and love.
It is our expectation that the new Children's Ministry Director will work with church staff and leadership to discern and define the mission of Children's Ministry based on the guiding values in our Philosophy of Ministry, designing and managing the ministry in a framework of:
Spirit-led Innovation -- effectively implementing Children's Ministry, as discerned by prayerfully working with the CM Team, that will continually adapt to the current and future needs of our children and their families
People-sensitivity -- attuned to the real and perceived needs of our children and their families
Coordination with the Senior Pastor, Youth Ministry Director, and Discipleship Team to implement_noemailplementary goals, keep a continuity of spiritual focus, and provide an intentional progression of spiritual maturity from one ministry to the next as our children grow; Ideally, other church ministry events and programs that include children, or that involve parents, would work with our Children's Ministry to provide optimal engagement for children across the ministries at First Pres; and
Centrality of the Gospel -- anchoring the ministry in engaging children to participate in the Good News of Jesus Christ.
The First Pres Children's Ministry seeks to foster an environment that nurtures spiritually healthy children—one where children feel we_noemaile, invited to participate, and valued, where they are physically and emotionally safe, and where they feel free to raise questions and express doubts.
