Central Baptist Church in Johnson City, TN is seeking a full-time Congregational Care, Outreach, and Education Pastor. This Ministerial Staff position_noemailprises multiple responsibilities. The position reports to the Senior Pastor in coordination with the Church Minister Relations Committee.
A_noemailpleted MDiv or similar degree is preferred; progress toward a Seminary degree will be considered. A minimum of three years of church staff or similar work experience is needed. The ideal candidate will possess_noemailpassion, spiritual maturity, and creativity. They should have strong_noemailanizational skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and function well as a team member. Personal spiritual gifts of leadership, shepherding, and teaching are desired.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTION:

REPORTS TO: Senior Pastor, Church Minister Relations Committee
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pastoral Care & Outreach:
Lead, facilitate, and conduct Pastoral Care visitation of members/prospects who are in the hospital or need special care
Provide spiritual care for the congregation, specifically to include life events such as birth, marriage, sickness, hospitalization, and death
Recruit, train, and equip members to serve and lead in areas of congregational care and outreach, to include a Senior Adult Visitation Team
Coordinate the CARE ministries to all congregants, utilizing church member volunteers; CARE includes Contact, being Available, Reaching out, and serving as an Example
Promote church member involvement in evangelism training and outreach events
Assimilation and Connection:
Coordinate the assimilation of new church members into the full life of the church and assist in connecting members to service opportunities through the coordination of the annual Volunteer in Ministry emphasis
Education:
Develop and direct the educational ministries for Sunday School, Discipleship, Bible studies, and small groups
Organize and lead an Educational Council to assist in the development of curricula, materials, and resources to support of educational opportunities
Collaborate with other Ministerial Staff regarding educational growth opportunities within their areas of responsibility
Enlist and provide training for teachers, leaders, and mentors who are called to lead people toward spiritual maturity in small group settings
Oversee and manage the budget for education ministries
Plan appreciation and encouragement events for volunteers
General Staff Responsibilities:
Assist with such duties and functions as assigned for equitable distribution of staff responsibilities, as determined by the Senior Pastor, which may include baptisms, funerals, and occasional pulpit supply as needed in the absence of the Senior Pastor.
