Lead Pastor Profile
Eternity Church is a multi-denominational church in Richmond, Virginia, and is seeking a lead pastor to lead our mission-minded, diverse, multi-generational congregation. We are most interested in an individual who demonstrates a deep love for Jesus and a desire to preach the Kingdom of God and see the power of the Kingdom manifested in the healing and deliverance ministries. In addition, this individual would demonstrate a deep love for the Scriptures and for people; actively practice spiritual disciplines and demonstrate a desire to continue to grow spiritually; and believes that the Holy Spirit is active in the church and in people today.
Our ideal candidate has the ability to see where God wants to lead the congregation, and to bring about that vision. He or she has a strong relational orientation; values the uniqueness and vocational calling of each individual; promotes a growth mentality in others; can foster and empower lay ministry; and is able to encourage, develop, and maintain intergenerational relationships, including with children and youth. Further, our ideal candidate has an anointing and the ability to exegete and preach God's word in varied ways (expository, textual, topical); is_noemailfortable with and adaptable to changing technology; and is enthusiastic about growing an on-line presence in the church. Good_noemailanizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively are additional desired characteristics, along with_noemailpassion, humility, availability (with healthy boundaries), and a sense of humor.
Requirements for the position include: (1) Bachelor's degree and a Master of Divinity degree or the equivalent, (2) licensure and ordination (3) five years of full-time pastoral experience in an associate or lead pastor role, and (4) love for and the ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences both inside and outside the church. The successful candidate will work alongside the current senior pastor for six to nine months prior to the current pastor's retirement and will be responsible for providing spiritual instruction and administrative leadership to the members, staff, and all ministries of the church.
