Requirements
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will:
Be a committed disciple of Jesus Christ
Have the spiritual gift of teaching/preaching
Be committed to the Great Commission, have a heart for the lost and model life-style evangelism
Have a strong prayer life
Possess a BS/BA degree in Biblical Studies or Master of Divinity from an accredited evangelical seminary.
Have a minimum of 5 years of ministry experience, preferably in a church setting
Have a vision and calling to serve in a multicultural/multi- ethnic congregation. Asian American descent preferable or someone with vast amount of experience in an Asian American context.
Have the courage to drive change as God leads
Partner well with other churches, para-church organization, and local community organizations
Have the right to work in the United States

Responsibilities

Equip Saints for Works of Service
· Preach and teach the word from the pulpit.
· Teach in Bible studies, training sessions, etc. on an as-needed basis as determined by the pastor.
· Cultivate leadership development through identifying, calling, training, and encouraging leaders.
· Disciple individuals
· Cast vision. In conjunction with the church leadership, cast vision, both short and long term, for the church, and develop a plan for implementation.
· Prepare preaching schedule for year.
· Must lead the church as an example for the congregation in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity by God's grace.

Shepherd the Congregation
· Guard against false teachers and predators.
· Lead the church in biblically defining and defending the church's theological position on doctrinal, life, and ministry issues.
· Visitations (in-person, calls, email). Know, lead, feed and protect the flock, which is manifested by investing in and engaging with church members and their families at a personal level.
· Follow the biblical instruction for church discipline, in conjunction with the elders (PAB at present).
· Counsel (Pre-marital, grief, Individuals, couples)
· Baptize
· Officiate Lord's Supper
· Perform weddings
· Perform funerals and memorial services
· Develop evangelism program
· Develop other programs as vision dictates
· Connect with local (Fremont/Newark) pastors' network.
· Provide general pastoral oversight of all ministries of the church.
· Become familiar with the community that surrounds the church.

Conference Functions
· Attend Conference NorCal Pastor meetings
· Attend Conference pastors' retreat
· Attend G.A. gathering every two years
· Attend Missions Conference

Personal Growth and Recreation
· Spend appropriate time in personal reading, study, and prayer.
· Regularly attend seminars, conferences, or seminary classes for personal/professional growth
· Take 2 weeks of vacation each year.
· Have one to two days off each week.
· Take a sabbatical every 7 years

Compensation
Compensation varies according to experience of the candidate.
