Brief History of Church: Primitive Methodism began in England in the early 1800's, as an attempt to restore the Methodist Revival begun under the ministry of John Wesley. The Lawrence Street PM Church was organized in 1883 as a mission work, and continues God's work in reaching our community for Christ to this day.
Church Mission Statement: Out of obedience to God's Great Commission, to produce disciple-making churches that will lead our world to Christ.
Purpose: The Primitive Methodist Church is a community of evangelical Christians, united for the mutual help in perfecting of Christian character, for the promoting of vital Christianity in the earth, and aiding in extending the Kingdom of Christ throughout the world. We are a Bible believing, Christ centered, evangelical methodist church with no ties to the United Methodist Church. Our purpose is to preach the gospel. The Bible reveals the purpose of the Church is to enable individuals to know God as Savior and Lord through faith in Jesus Christ and to glorify Him through evangelism, edification, education, and equipping the saints for the work of the ministry.

Alongside Cambridge, it is one of two traditional seats of Middlesex County. With an estimated population of 115,554 in 2020, it was the fifth most populous city in Massachusetts as of the last census, and the third most populous in the Boston metropolitan statistical area. The city is also part of a smaller Massachusetts statistical area called Greater Lowell, and of New England's Merrimack Valley region. Primary Ministry Responsibilities:
Worship: Prepare and conduct weekly lessons/sermons, lead worship and special services, and administer sacraments of Baptism and Communion
Evangelism/Church Building: Collaborate with church members to reach out to others for Christ, and increase church membership and participation
Discipleship: Collaborate with those in ministry positions to promote Christian education, preaching, teaching, and interpretation of Scripture
Pastoral Care: Be available to the congregation in times of rejoicing, illness, bereavement, and emergencies. Visit hospitals, nursing homes, shut-ins, and provide pre-marital counseling, officiate at weddings and funerals
Applicant Characteristics / Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with a degree in Theology would be preferred.
Pastoral experience preferred.
A person mature in the Christian life, with a commitment to Christ and a call to serve in the ministry of the gospel
Maintain a regular and disciplined personal worship, Bible study, and prayer life
Commitment to fostering church growth and community relationships
Ability to effectively preach the Word of God, with relatable and applicable messages that encourage and challenge people to know and grow in Christ
In agreement with the doctrine of the Primitive Methodist Church in the United States
Exemplify the scriptural qualifications of an Elder according to 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:6-9, 1 Peter 5:1-4
Ability to provide references and agree to a background check

Parsonage located at 1199 Lawrence Street in Lowell, 4 bedrooms, 2-1/2 baths, office
Salary range commensurate with education and experience. Includes base salary, car allowance, contribution to Self-Employment Tax, health benefit allowance, utility allowance, and use of parsonage.
