Senior Pastor
Job Description:
We are seeking a new senior pastor to lead our (small)_noemailmunity church in the South Puget Sound area of Washington. This area is a wonderful place to live because of it's natural beauty; Puget Sound, Mt. Rainier, rivers, lakes, and parks for boating, fishing, hiking, camping, skiing and other winter sports in the Cascade Mountains. Our temperate climate allows many outdoor activities year-round.
Edgewood Church of Joy is located on approximately 5 acres in a residential neighborhood in Edgewood, which is a suburb of Seattle to the north and T_noemaila to the south, has a population of approximately (12,000). We also serve larger neighboring cities of Federal Way, Auburn, Puyallup, Fife, and Milton. Edgewood is approximately a 30 minute drive south of Seattle, and 15 minutes to SeaTac International Airport. Our church facility has a large sanctuary and many rooms used for classes and meetings, as well as an ample kitchen and social fellowship area. During the week we run a Christian preschool which provides substantial i_noemaile for the church in addition to member tithes and offerings.
Our last pastor retired just before the COVID pandemic started. As with many churches across the country, attendance dropped sharply after COVID arrived and shutdowns were instituted. This also impacted our children's and youth programs, family nights, etc. Most of our younger families with children have not returned since COVID restrictions have lessened. We offer video services on-line, and are attracting some new members, but our current congregation is primarily over 50 years of age.
We also rent our facility to another a local church, Federal Way Christ Church, who use the building for their worship services and other programs. They provide most of our Sunday worship music and we enjoy a friendly congenial relationship with them.

Qualifications:
Our congregation is strongly based in God's Word and we desire a pastor who will continue to lead us in studying and following the Word as Christ followers.
As we are starting to recover from this COVID pandemic and its widespread effect on everyone and everything, we especially hope to find a pastor who can lead us effectively in this recovery and help us expand our membership - especially attracting younger families with children which seems to be our biggest challenge at this time. We would like to be able to resume our children's Sunday school, youth programs, family nights, and community outreach programs.
We believe our older congregation of mature believers has a lot to offer younger believers and families in the way of mentoring, discipling, and assisting young families; and in this aspect which we considered to be/hope would be an asset to a new pastor.
