Our desire is to hire a part-time Worship Leader who will plan services with theologically rich lyrics set to music from the diverse cultures represented in our congregation. This person will lead out of a deep life of personal worship and prayer. As an active member of Groveton, he or she will be a team player with the praise team, choir, instrumentalists, and staff, showing Christ-like patience and love toward all.
We currently have two worship services. The early service is led by a praise team and song selections draw largely from contemporary worship songs over the last 20 years (Hillsong, Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, Keith and Kristyn Getty, etc.). The later service blends these contemporary songs with classic hymns from the Baptist Hymnal and includes a choir anthem each Sunday.
Formal musical training is preferred, though commensurate experience will be considered. Proficiency in reading music and leading groups is required, as leadership of the praise team and choir are central to the job. This position also requires computer skills for using service planning software and a working knowledge of audio and visual equipment.
Used by churches all over the world to help teach worship, the Experiencing Worship study can help your worship team too.
Your team will learn why we worship and gain a better understanding of how to worship.
