POSITION SUMMARY
The Youth and Family Minister will partner with the Senior Pastor to provide spiritual guidance and leadership to the members of Shepherd of Life Lutheran Church. The main focus of the position will be in guiding and leading the youth and families of the church. This is a full-time, lay position which reports to the Senior Pastor, and the position is open immediately.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Youth Ministries
Create and implement effective faith formation opportunities for the youth of the church, to include K -5, Junior High, and High School. These faith formation opportunities include but are not limited to: Sunday School instruction, Confirmation instruction, First Communion instruction, service projects, lock-ins and/or other group-building events, Vacation Bible School and other summer activities, local Synod gatherings, and national ELCA gatherings.
Coordinate the annual Children's Christmas program, the annual Holy Week activities, and the annual Halloween event.
Recruit and maintain a corps of volunteers to assist with the activities outlined above.
Create and implement social media efforts to support and promote the church's youth activities.
2. Family Ministries
Create and implement periodic faith formation and group-building activities for entire families.
Create and implement methods for ongoing check-ins and interactions with parents.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Food Pantry
Assist the Food Pantry Director with duties related to the church's weekly food pantry. Duties may include but are not limited to: picking up and transporting food orders, unloading trucks, stocking the shelves, ordering food, and working at the food pantry on Thursday evenings.
The Senior Pastor will work with the Food Pantry Director to determine the exact duties so that the youth and family needs of the church are not negatively impacted.
