Accountability:
Responsible to the Session and accountable to the Pastor for planning, implementation and evaluation of the church's educational ministry.
Serves as staff support for the work of the learning ministry.
Performance evaluation by the Pastor in consultation with appropriate committee moderators. 60 days and six months from date of hire, yearly thereafter.
Specific Responsibilities:
Work with Pastor and learning ministry committees to plan and implement a variety of faith learning programs.
Coordinate committee members for Children, Youth and Adult Ministries.
Arrange curriculum, provide teaching schedule, supply resources and oversee relevant budgets.
Oversee the church nursery and children's church program providing direct supervision and support to volunteers and paid staff.
Oversee implementation of the church's Child/Youth Protection Policy, including necessary training and compliance.
Organize Sunday School programming
Oversee Confirmation Program
Organize and plan annual Vacation Bible School program or other summer community children's or family programming by:
Selecting the curriculum, recruiting volunteers, delegating and overseeing assignments.
Coordinate necessary calendar planning for program promotions and recruitment.
Working with the Youth Ministry Committee, to oversee high school (TUXIS) program including:
Weekly youth gatherings during the academic year
Summer gatherings and events and programs including mission trips
Schedule and Benefits: Weekly time commitment based on scheduled planning and events; Full-Time salaried position. It is expected the Director of Christian Education shall be available on evenings and Sundays as programs require. Salary range $40K - $42K (annual) commensurate with experience and education. Mileage reimbursed at maximum rate allowed by IRS, Vacation accrual, paid holidays as determined, benefits negotiable. Continuing education, 2 weeks per year, as agreed upon with Session.
