Qualifications
The pastor at Speed Memorial Church will provide spiritual leadership to the congregation through biblically sound preaching, discipleship, and exemplifying godly character. The pastor will demonstrate a high level of_noemailpetency and excellence in the study of the scriptures, church leadership and_noemailanization, and equipping the church to be disciples. The pastor for Speed Memorial Church will be a person who is called, ordained and set apart by God to the gospel ministry, will be evangelical in theology and will be_noemailmitted to living and serving in a manner consistent with the standards set forth in Scripture for Pastors.
The pastor will be qualified to minister in the church.
The pastor will demonstrate humility.
The pastor will be a graduate of an accredited Bible college or seminary.
The pastor will be experienced in serving in a pastoral ministry position.
The pastor will be called by the Holy Spirit as defined and confirmed by a body of believers through ordination.
The pastor will preach and teach God's Word as led by the Spirit. Be the principal_noemailmunicator of God's Word in public worship and ensure that the church is growing to maturity in Christ.
The pastor will be transformed by the renewal of the mind by time in prayer and personal time with the Lord.
The pastor will model the heart of the Chief Shepherd and ensure that the congregation is well led, cared for, and protected.
The pastor will be the chief overseer who will exercise biblical authority over the church entrusted by God.
The pastor will be the principal spiritual leader and vision caster of the church.
The pastor will lead the church to understand, embrace, and a_noemailplish its mission to make disciples both locally and globally through the vision of engaging Christ's followers in worship, ministry, discipleship, fellowship, and evangelism.
a) Oversee the pastoral care needs of the congregation and, as necessary share with church council in hospital visitation, home visits, counseling, marriages and funerals.
b) Supervise the office and provide direction, as needed, for the effective functioning of the front office support functions.
c) Oversee development of and adherence to church policies and procedures.
The pastor will participate with the associational, state, and denominational leaders in matters of mutual interest and concern.
The pastor will oversee the planning of worship services, outreach, and events in order to support the church council to successfully coordinate these services and events.
The pastor will have preferably 8 to 10 years of vocational ministry experience leading a church with an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited Bible college or seminary
The pastor must have a demonstrated ability to effectively_noemailmunicate God's Word through a solid, biblically based expositional style.
The pastor must be a visionary leader with the ability to discover/develop/ and implement a new vision for Speed Memorial Church and develop a strategy to carry it out.
The pastor must be a team player willing to work collaboratively with the Speed Memorial Church council.
The pastor must have the ability to engage in multi-generational ministry.
Responsibilities
Pastor Job Description
Preaching and Teaching: The pastor will be the primary preacher for worship services. The pastor also will provide leadership in planning and executing the adult education programs and other programs in discipleship and ministry training, in coordination with the church council.
Strategic Leadership and Planning: The pastor is responsible for strategic planning and staff coordination in the execution of the church's purpose. The pastor along with the church council will define strategic goals and vision as a key leader among the church trustees and implement the plan by coordinating and taking part in monthly council meetings and other activities to clarify and execute goals and objectives. The pastor will monitor the spiritual pulse of the congregation through review and accountability. He or she will also ensure staffing, facilities and programs are effectively aligned to meet strategic goals.
Administration: The pastor oversees and executes the administration of the church through appropriate staff and lay leadership teams, and ensures the_noemailpletion of ministry, business, facility, and logistical support functions through staff and lay volunteers. He or she must:
