General Description
Provide leadership and direction of the Music Ministry. To minister to our congregation and our_noemailmunity through music. To promote the growth and excellence of our music ministry to draw people closer to Christ.
Requirements
Confesses Jesus Christ as Savior and holds to historic Christian faith and practice
Adheres to the Mission, Vision, Values of 1st UMC
Knowledge of the history, beliefs, and musical customs of the United Methodist Church
Bachelor's degree in Music or equivalent musical training and experience
A history of excellence in church music performance and administration, preferably within mainline Protestant denominations
Solid interpersonal and_noemailmunication skills (including_noemailputer skills) with adults, youth, and children
Familiarity with worship-related technology
Comprehensive knowledge in the field of Christian music
Able to lead in prayer as well as inspire musicians to lead vocally and/or instrumentally from a heart of worship
Work closely, as a team player, with the Pastor(s), staff, musicians, and others in all matters pertaining to music planning and scheduling
Successfully pass criminal background check
Responsibilities
In cooperation with the Pastor(s) and other members of the music ministry, plan music for all services including, but not limited to, the following:
Music for worship, including anthems, special music, and hymns
Lead worship from the_noemailan for Sunday traditional services, and special services including but not limited to Christmas Eve, Holy Week, etc.
Lead rehearsals and direct the Chancel Choir
Play the piano, including a_noemailpanying special music, etc.
as needed
Provide or secure all music and musicians for worship, including regular and occasional services (such as wedding, funeral or memorial services)
Provide or arrange for special music for Sunday worship and other activities
Oversee all services and music groups, ensuring team members have all they require
Expand the outreach of the church through events like concerts, special performances, etc.
Organize, rehearse, and direct, or arrange for direction of the Handbell Choir
Prepare and manage an annual budget, in cooperation with the Finance Committee
Cultivate and recruit new musicians
Maintain a music library for all instrumental and vocal groups
Oversee the maintenance and care of all church musical instruments, along with the Trustees
Work in cooperation with the Audio, Visual, and Lighting personnel for all worship services
Manage subscriptions and licensing where appropriate, and purchase of software, instruments, music, and other items as needed
Perform other tasks as assigned by the Senior Pastor
