Principal Function:
The pastor is to provide leadership and shepherding care for the First Baptist Church of West Danby. The pastor is to equip (Ephesians 4:11-12) and train the congregation in Christ-like Christian living. The pastor must have the ability and passion to preach and teach God's Word and to oversee all worship services. His approach must be Gospel-centered and in line with our Articles of Faith.
Ministry Requirement and Responsibilities:
Dreamer, with an entrepreneurial spirit who can cast a biblically- based vision and effectively
implement it into the church.
Administer a gospel-centered discipleship strategy.
Mobilize the church to care for the needs of people in our community in meaningful ways.
Partner with our counseling service, Journey of Hope.
Lead the church in planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating of Church
ministries and growth initiatives.
Effectively utilize the deacons, trustees, and other church leadership teams to improve
ministries.
Demonstrate a heart for missions.
Develop current and future leadership of the Church.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
To care for the souls of people is an intense and demanding calling. The pastor guides people through personal trauma and trials while also handling administrative tasks that can be detailed, complex, and sometimes problematic. He must also be available to respond to crises as they occur. He will invest significant time and energy interacting and connecting with the people in the congregation. He must demonstrate commitment to continued spiritual and professional growth and development. The pastor leads the church under the authority of Jesus Christ and serves at the will of the congregation.
